Journaling people's lives

I’ve told stories — many of them. And on all sorts of topics. Through my work as a journalist, I've been an advocate for countless people and have been most engaged while working on stories promoting equity because it is at the heart of my values. Due to my employer's copyright over content, I am not adding much media from stories that have appeared under my byline to this page, but I am including links to the content. I encourage you to read this article I wrote about colleges improving the accessibility of their websites as they were being sued on accusations that they were not complying with the Americans With Disabilities Act. I also wrote this  Q & A  on Civil Rights efforts at Cornell University after having an hour-long conversation with Tom Jones, a Black Cornell graduate who had led the takeover of two buildings on campus while he was a student.

Would you like me to share a fun story with you? Here's one on RapStudy, a startup that pairs educational lyrics with popular song lyrics by well-known artists. I've created viral content as well, such as this news package on a political campaign staff that pressed charges against a pastor they tracked down with gps for taking campaign signs.

I was honored to have been given the opportunity to write stories on salt-of-the earth people. I've written articles on Sgt. James Johnston, a Hawaiian shirt-lover who died in military combat; and Kelly Anne Perkins, a college student and former Girl Scout whose life was cut short by an accident when she was driving to her only-choice college where her parents worked at. I also wrote a moving piece on Cliff Conger closing the ski shop started by his dad so he could spend more time with his son who had a rare genetic disorder.
